Dayton OH Carpet and Installation
Carpet is warm, cozy and relatively easy to maintain. As a flooring option for residential or commercial spaces it is also affordable and durable and may even offer health benefits, as carpets trap many airborne irritants and allergens, removing them from the air so they can simply be vacuumed away.
When many people begin thinking about purchasing new carpeting they immediately start envisioning colors and patterns that may work well in their home or office. Before you start thinking about colours and patterns though you will need to determine just what kind of new carpet you want. Modern carpet comes in a number of different textures and types and some work better in certain situations than others.
Here is a guide to some of the most popular types of carpeting, all of which can be found in abundance at C & L Flooring
Frieze Carpet – Pronounced “free-zay” frieze carpeting is an excellent choice for high traffic areas. It has a highly twisted cut pile that contains short fibers whose tendency to curl in different directions helps to hide footprints or marks left by the vacuum. It’s a great choice for high traffic hallways and other busy household spots and often the most affordable one as well.
Texture Carpet – When texture carpet is being created the carpet fibers are cut and twisted only slightly- they are nowhere near as “curly” as those found in frieze carpeting. This too is an excellent choice for areas that see a lot of foot traffic but is slightly more ‘regular’ in appearance.
Berber Carpet – Also known as loop carpet this resilient type of carpeting has taller loops that are all roughly the same height. Berber carpets are often multi-color in nature with soft highlights complementing the main color perfectly. Loop carpeting is a great choice for the family room or areas where spills are likely to occur on a regular basis (a child’s bedroom for instance.)
Wool Carpet – All natural and beautiful to behold, wool carpeting is often the first choice for those seeking to make their home a more environmentally friendly place. Some people are surprised by how easy it is to care for as well.
Wool, although considered delicate, really isn’t, at least when it comes to carpeting. It’s tough, stain resistant and when a homeowner acts quickly can in fact be the easiest type of carpeting to save in a water damage incident.
Patterned Carpet – The patterns are created in the cut of the carpet pile itself, with “islands” of higher cut carpet pile contrasting with lower cut loops to create an overall three dimensional patterned effect. Pattern carpeting is great for adding a modern and contemporary touch to any room in your home.
Plush Carpeting – The ultimate in carpet luxury the velvety softness of plush carpeting makes it the perfect choice for a formal dining or living room. It’s not a great option for busier areas though as its pile wears down rather more quickly than other carpeting choices.
Commercial Grade Carpeting – Carpeting is an excellent choice of flooring in many commercial instances but as these areas tend to be highly trafficked often a different kind of carpeting is called for. Commercial grade carpeting, while not quite as striking in terms of design, is long wearing, very durable and is easy to maintain.
