When a homeowner makes a big purchase like a television or a computer or even a new stove, one of the things they usually do is take all the inserts that came in the box, all the warranty information and other similar things and put them in a safe place in case they need them in the future, especially if something goes wrong.
A new carpet is usually – in terms of finances anyway – a much bigger purchase than all of these things, so doing the same thing for your new carpets is a must. Having the right information available about your carpet will help you take advantage of any warranty protections you might have if something goes wrong as well as give you a better idea of just how it should be cared for.
Here are some of the things that you should have:
Carpet Manufacturer’s Name and Number – Often stores will carry and sell carpets but they have nothing else to do with it once it has left the store and been installed in a home and if a homeowner has questions or concerns, especially about warranties they will often be told to contact the carpet manufacturer to have them answered rather than the store where they bought them from.
The Carpet’s Style Name, Number and Color Number – If you do need to contact the manufacturer then by using this information is almost always going to be the only way that they can help you. Telling them that you have a red and white carpet with squiggles on it is not going to be of any use!
Carpet Care Guidelines – Many carpet manufacturers do offer great warranties on their products but as is the case for any warranty there are some things that a consumer may do, or allow the happen, to their carpets that will void that warranty.
For example, many manufacturers insist that a consumer be able to show that they have had their carpets professionally cleaned on a regular basis in order for the warranty to be valid. How often they expect that to be will be listed in the warranty – it can be as often as every six months or as infrequently as two years. It is important that you know what the requirements are though in order to make sure that your warranty is still good (which also means keeping the receipts from the cleaning company as well.)
Final note: C & L Flooring are always there for their customers. Even if you purchased your flooring from them years ago, you’ll find that if you give them a call they’ll help you with any problems you might be having as best they can. It’s just one of the things that truly sets C & L Flooring apart from other Eastern Ohio flooring companies.
