All of us are looking forward in celebrating the end of the year with a bang. It is also an opportunity to celebrate with friends and family through year-end parties, exchanging gifts, and basically spending more time with people who matter. As you may expect, your home may be a busy venue for such festivities – which may take a toll on your beloved flooring!
At the end of all the fun, you may find your flooring taken for granted and may even show signs of scratches, dirt, and damage. Unless you don’t want to entertain your guests at home, you will be assured that you maintain your flooring in its optimal condition. Then again, the season should not be about your floor’s overall condition – but you can follow these tips to help protect your flooring during holiday season:
- Add doormats or rugs on your flooring
Our flooring is highly susceptible to damage especially dirt and debris coming from outdoors. In such cases, it is important to put doormats or rugs near the door and in any high-traffic areas of your house such as the kitchen, bathroom, or hallway. Rugs can also come in handy for a quick wipe on your floor with any dirt.
- Avoid entering inside the house with your shoes on.
If you want to keep your flooring clean and dirt-free all year round, the number one rule you should remember is to remove your shoes you have worn outdoors. Put some slippers near the door entrance you can wear inside the house. If you are expecting guests in your home, you should inform them about it beforehand. If this house rule can’t be avoided, you can put a doormat outside the door where they can rub their shoes on before entering your house.
- Wipe up floor spills immediately.
Floor spills can be inevitable especially if you are hosting a dinner party in your home. In such cases, make sure to wipe the spills immediately so it won’t permanently mark on your flooring.
- Keep your flooring clean before the event day.
It’s only normal to ensure that your flooring is squeaky-clean before the gathering. Aside from cleaning, it is as important to keep it stain-free all the time by applying anti-stain treatment on your flooring – regardless whether you have hardwood or carpeted flooring. At the end of the day, maintaining your flooring in tiptop condition is just as important as keeping it looking presentable at all times.
