For the soda, beer or wine stains, make sure to get rid of the stain as soon as they come with the help of clean cloth.
The key here is to blot out as much of the stain as you can, as quickly as you can. While you are at it, make sure that you blot in a single direction to prevent the soda stain from spreading further and never, ever scrub or rub, as you’ll simply push the liquid further down into the carpet’s fibers if you do. Also, make sure to blot from the outer edge of the stain to the center. Do this until the cloth cannot blot out any more liquid from the carpet.
To prevent a permanent discoloration you don’t even need any expensive carpet cleaning products. Simply combine 2 parts of cold water to 1/4 teaspoon of mild liquid detergent. Spritz the mixture on the stained spot and blot this area again in the same manner as you did the initial liquid removal step. Let the area dry. After drying, vacuum the spot and, in most cases, you’ll never be able to tell anything happened.
